5 Rules to Follow When Going Blonde

Going blonde is more like a feeling: “I’m going to do this and I’m going to do it my way”. It’s true, blonde is a very versatile hairstyle, but when there are a lot of girls going blonde, you might want something different. We all feel that way from time to time and it’s fine, as long as you follow these basic rules.

1) Use a Blonde Specific Shampoo and Conditioner

Consider throwing away any supermarket shampoos or conditioners. These products usually have silicon in excess which can react with the bleach in an unpleasant manner. Look for products meant for protecting your colour, nothing too harsh or rich in sulfate. Delicate is the word and delicate you should act towards your hair.

Consider toning down on your washing routine. If not, you risk stripping your hair of the moisture it needs to keep your colour young and fresh. Blonde hair is usually dry in texture, so not washing it as before is ok.

2) Use the Best Product

3) Heat is Your Enemy

Heat and hair colour do not go well together. Blonde hair is really sensitive to heat. We know what you’re thinking: “I can’t give up styling my hair” and we know you won’t. That’s why we advise you to take certain measures that reduce the risk.

First and foremost, find a suitable type of heat protecting cream for your hair. If cream won’t do it, go for spray or balm which will give your colour a boost of energy and freshness to fight the unbeatable heat damage.

4) Take Care! Water and Sun can Damage Your Blonde

We know, the best time to show off your blonde is summer. Still, when you’re out on the beach, try to protect it as much as possible with a hat or a scarf. Even use a UV protection product. Moreover, if you’re a swimming addict and hitting the pool a lot, make sure you wear a proper swimming cap and smother your hair in conditioner right before doing your routine.

The chlorine in water can damage the beautiful colour of your hair, and turn it into something… we don’t even want to think about it.

5) Forget Brushing When Hair is Wet

Hair is a little bit damaged already after bleaching. You should always have that in mind when sporting your best blonde hair. Thus, you should take extra care not to damage it further. Usually, when wet, hair is more prone to damage from pulling, brushing, combing.

All of these actions that we’re all inclined to take to after bath, should be avoided after going blonde. Nobody likes breakage. So, our advice to you: let your hair dry a little before trying to brush it.
